Indigenous Woman
The native inspirational female I look up to is Katherine Wilson Sheppard, Also known as Kate Sheppard. Kate Sheppard, a brave courageous Christian woman, was born on March 10th 1847 in Liverpool, United Kingdom and died at the age of 87 the 13th of July in 1934 Christchurch, New Zealand. Katherine's early childhood years were spent in London, Nairn in Scotland, and Dublin. February 8 1869 Kate Sheppard, her mother Jemima Crawford Souter, her two brothers, and her sister, Isabella May, arrived at Lyttelton on the Matoaka, where her family first settled in Christchurch.
If you don't know who Kate Sheppard is, you may recognize her by seeing a lady's face on the ten dollar note. Since 1991 her profile has been featured on the ten dollar note, She's considered an important figure in New Zealand history, despite what she has done for us.
Wilson Sheppard believed women should take part in society and politics, she concluded that women could not make any of the changes needed in society without winning the right to vote. The terrific competitive courageous woman, Kate Sheppard, is famous for a lot of things. Some people love knowledge about someone THIS important. let's look at a little information this strong minded lady has done for this country and us.

Katherine Wilson Sheppard or Kate Sheppard, is also known as the leader of the fight to win the right for New Zealand women to vote. She and the other pioneering women battled so forcefully and tirelessly, that in 1893 Aotearoa became the first self-governing nation in the world to grant the vote to all women over 21. This shows people what a true famous inspiration champion Katherine Wilson was.

Wilson Kate Sheppard’s job was her most active years. Her job as a political leader for social reform was from 1887 to 1902. During this point of period she was franchise and legislation superintendent of the WCTU - (also known as Women Christian Temperance Union) , convener of the economics department of the Canterbury Women’s Institute, and from 1869 to 1902 president or vice president of the NCW - [AKA];National Commission for Women.
Kate is also known as the editor of the White Ribbon, the first newspaper to be owned, managed and published by women.
I specifically chose Kate Sheppard, because she inspires me to become a brave leader like she is.
